just blame boone

It's Map Time!

I'm learning about mental maps in my cognitive psychology class YAY LEARNING! and how it affects how we remember/imagine things -- for example, when we read a book and you have to imagine an action taking place in a scene and the scene is not described to you. You only know that it "exists." How do you imagine it?

I'm going to use the example of Twilight because it is one of the books that I have read recently that I know at least a couple of you have read. How did you imagine Bella's home, i.e. the relation of the rooms to one another (living room to kitchen), relation of objects within a room (the desk, bed and rocking chair in Bella's bedroom) and the spatial orientation with regards to direction (if you were to look at a map of the house from above, where would it be in relation to the forest [which is supposed to be across the street, btw] -- Is it to the left, right, above or beneath it?).

I made my own mental map and you can see it below the cut. But I'd like to make you own mental map first and describe/draw it for me (please?) before you look at mine so mine doesn't influence yours. Call it a pseudo-psychological experiment of sorts.

Thanks again.

More Useless HBP Fangirling Crap

As you very well know, in the sixth installment of HP, Half-Blood Prince, both Hermione and Ron attempt to make each other jealous by taking on a pseudo-boy/girl-friend (respectively).  With the advent of sixth movie (veeery slowly) approaching, we will see a whole batch of new actors including Jessie Cave playing Lavendar Brown and Freddie Stroma as Cormac McLaggen.  With this in mind, I ask you a simple question:

Who is better looking...?Collapse )
ps. I am soooooo bored, and yet with so much to do!

NMMC vs. Barney alumni

Okay, neither of them can really act, but Demi Lovato? man can that girl sing... sooo much better than Miley Cyrus.  It's pretty obvious that I'm on Team Demi/Selena, as it is called, but Miley is just too damn obnoxious. Demi and Selena are so cute and sassy and they're not perfect, you know, that wholesome image Disney strives for, but let's face it, Disney doesn't exacty have a track record for wholesome alumni (coughcough Britney and Xtina). At least, images of them exposing their AA's have not surfaced on the web, that we know of, like some other Disney stars -- Miss Montana, I'm talking to you. Oh and I love the online bickering between Selena and Miley; the tension is palpable, especially when Selena guest stars on Hannah Montana. Selena's character Mikayla and Hannah Montana are rival popstars (oh, how art imitates life) on the show & now, with a recent episode plot twist, Mikayla decides to become friends with Miley, Hannah Montana's non-popstar alias, unbeknownst to her. Can't you just sense the Lohan/Duff catfights rekindling with these two? LOL, I love all the tween queen drama.

Demi Lovato's "Get Back" (below)
ALSO: The Jonas Brothers "Burning Up" (Also below) Not as good, but here you can see Selene starring in her alleged boyfriend's music video. Fuel to the fire, I say! Fuel to the fire! Ra ra ra! but tsktsktsk little Jonas, don't you know sticking a gf in your music video is nothing but detrimental for both your relationship and your career: think Stephenie Seymour or Christie Brinkley. ps. Nick's red jumpsuit ftw rotflmao! Spanxmuch? and Joe admitting he can't grow a mustachio. Also, what was with poor Kevin having to be paired up with a girl too when clearly he doth care for the ladies? and wtFFFF with their bouncer rapping the video???

The More You Know...

Alright, so I've decided that I am conducting a social experiment. As of late, I have realized just how much time I spend online: far more than I would ever admit to. It has also come to my realization that  it affecting me at work (I am ALWAYS online, for like personal non-work stuff) and I think it's put a damper on the way I communicate socially. I never know what to say to people in person and what-not. So, I took online Internet Addiction Test via geeksugar to see just how bad my problem is. I didn't do have bad; I scored a 48. Nevertheless, I want to see if I can go two weeks without going online (except for actual work stuff). Why two weeks? Because that's how much time I have until classes start again, and fortunately or unfortunately, I need the Internet for some of my classes. Plus, I want to spend more time reading and writing. Things I used to enjoy doing and that now I look at them like if they're work or don't do them anymore because I "don't have time" because of all the time I am spending online.

So, I'll go online again two weeks from now and tell you how that goes. :D Wish me luck! Well...don't because I won't be online to see for the next two weeks...

Also: this is for one of my friends that recently confessed to me that she worried she had a shopping problem. :D I don't think she has a problem, but it might help her to read the article anyway.

Study Daze

Am studying for my Macroeconomics and Psychology finals and this is perhaps the only post I will make all day.

& my hair looks like Oruha from Clover, and briefly Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE. Look it up if you need a visual, I don't feel like providing one.

Oh joy!

I was shopping on shopstyle.com and I found what could possibly be the closest version of one of the dress Kristen Bell wore in Forgetting Sarah Marshall .

Here is the actual dress:

Here is the one I found at Forever XXI, via ShopStyle. SWEET!:

Now I just have to stay on the lookout for a dress/cover-up that looks like this one! :D
